Digital Stepper Driver
Analog Stepper Driver
Low speed resonance
Electronic damping for smoothing 3 major low speed resonance, resonance amplitude can reduce greatly.
Without electronic damping technology, it has strong vibration and even stalls at low speed resonance.
Motor noise
STEPPERONLINE Stepper Driver’s Precision DSP current control technology can reduce 70% motor noise.
The output current of analog stepper driver is not pure sine wave, will bring noise during motor is running.
Motor and driver heating
Due to precision-based current control algorithm, motor heating is 10-20℃ lower and driver heating is 20% lower as compared to using analog stepper drive.
The motor and driver will have more heating than using digital drive.
Speed-torque performance
Different current algorithm can bring different performance of output torque. STEPPERONLINE Driver’s digital current control technology makes the output torque exceed the analog stepper driver at the whole speed segments. It enhances 30% at low and medium segments especially. But the performance is sensitive to operation voltage, it is better to choose the recommended power supply when using digital stepper drive.
There is the phenomenon of fake description of peak current when facing some cheaper analog drivers, so the output torque will always lower than digital stepper driver with the same description of output current. Even the output current of analog driver is the same as digital driver, the output torque when connecting the one stepper motor will lower 10%-30% than using digital stepper driver at low and medium speed segments.
Upgradability
It is easy to upgrade the control algorithm to improve the performance of STEPPERONLINE driver or customize its features via modifying software.
It needs to modify hardware for any upgrade, will require more cost and time.
