What is a Stepper Motor Driver?
Stepper motor driver is an actuator which can transform pulse signal into angular displacement signal, Stepper drivers drive stepper motors to rotate at an angle called step angle in the set direction when receiving a pulse signal. The motor speed is up to the pulse frequency given from the controller, and the displacement is decided on the pulse quantity given from the controller. Stepper system consists of a stepper motor and a stepper driver. Performance of a stepper system is not only up to the motor, but also depends on the stepper driver.
Types of Stepper Motor Driver
STEPPERONLINE offer six types of stepper motor drivers:
T Series
The T series is a digital stepper driver implemented with advanced stepping control technology, including the DMT series (open loop driver) and CLT series (closed loop driver). It is easy to use and can be used to drive most 2-phase stepper motors smoothly with less heat and noise. All microstepping and output currents are done via DIP switches, making it ideal for applications that require simple stepping and directional control of stepper motors.
DMRS Series
DMRS Series are open loop stepper driver based on standard Modbus RS485 protocol, using RS485 communication can network up to 31 axes, built-in PR feature with 16-segment position table(PR Mode). They can save additional controllers in most of point-to-point applications, to greatly enhance system reliability and reduce the cost. DMRS Series also support the feature of teaching, the operation modes of Profile Position, Profile Velocity and Homing.
CLRS Series
CLRS Series are closed loop stepper driver based on standard Modbus RS485 protocol, using RS485 communication can network up to 31 axes, built-in PR feature with 16-segment position table(PR Mode). They can not only solve the problem of step loss in the open loop stepper system, but also can save additional controllers in most of point-to-point applications, to greatly enhance system reliability and reduce the cost. CLRS Series also support the feature of teaching, the operation modes of Profile Position, Profile Velocity and Homing.
DMAI Series
The DMAI series has built with a pulser already, you can control two stepper motors by PLC or potentiometer at same time, even you can run two motors without a controller. Eight currents and eight speeds can be seleted. Two digital input signals control the start/stop and direction seperately. It was widly used in the application of band carrier.
ISD Series
ISD series is a parallel port control series of miniature high performance stepper motor drivers. Its biggest feature is its small size and strong driving ability. It is integrally designed to fit onto stepper motors. Its high-speed current compensation function can compensate for the effects of back electromotive force when the motor rotates at high speed.
ISC Series
ISC series is a microprocessor embedded, voltage control, miniature stepper motor controller. It is integrally designed to fit onto stepper motors, and is simple to control. With the ISC series, the motor speed can be controlled by an analog voltage in two optional ways: an external potentiometer or an external voltage. ISC series driver can run the motor without user control device. At the same time, with the high-speed current compensation function, ISC series can compensate the effects caused by counter electromotive force, which is produced in high- speed motor turning.
