Optical encoder is a sensor which can transform displacement of the output shaft into pulse or digital signals by photoelectric conversion. It is mainly composed of a grating disk and a photoelectric detecting device. In a closed-loop system, the encoder is coaxial with the motor shaft, and they rotate with the same speed. It will give out several pulse signals after being detected by the detector consisting with luminous diodes and other electronic component. The rotating speed of the motor can be figured out by calculating the pulse quantities given out per second. This encoder can be divided into incremental encoder, absolute value encoder and hybrid encoder.
